At Kingston Hospital, you and your family are placed at the centre of care and involved in all decision-making regarding your labour and birth. You can give birth at home, in the unit run by midwives (Birth Centre) or the unit led by doctors (Delivery Suite). The place where you will give birth is your choice and also depends on your needs and risks and, to some extent, on where you live.

You can discuss your options of place at birth at any time throughout your antenatal period.

Two birth partners may be present during your labour and birth, one of which can stay with you throughout your stay on the maternity unit. You may have 2 visitors (including the birth partner) on the postnatal ward and any siblings of the new baby between 3pm and 8pm.

You can view birth leaflets, resources and films on our website here.
