Giving Birth

Deciding where to have your baby is an important decision for you and your partner and we believe that you should give birth in an environment where you feel safe, comfortable and relaxed.

At Kingston Hospital, you and your family are placed at the centre of care and involved in all decisions made regarding your labour and birth. You can give birth at home, in the unit run by midwives (Birth centre) or the unit led by doctors (Delivery suite). The place where you will give birth is your choice and also depends on your needs and risks.

You can discuss your options of place at birth at any time throughout your antenatal period. Also take time to read the birth place decision information leaflet.

Homebirth Giving birth at home is as safe as having your baby in hospital when you have a pregnancy with no complication.
Birth centre
Birth centre The birth centre is an option for women who could have their baby at home but would feel more comfortable in a hospital setting.
Delivery suite
Delivery suite The delivery suite is both for women who may require more monitoring during labour and birth.
