Birthing Options Clinic

If you have had one previous caesarean section birth, your community midwife or obstetrician will ask you to make an appointment to see the Birthing Options Team following your second scan.

The Birthing Options Team will provide you with evidence based information regarding both vaginal delivery after caesarean section (often referred to as a VBAC) and repeat caesarean section, and also support you and our partner towards your upcoming birth.
For the majority of women there will be no medical indication for a repeat caesarean section, and a vaginal birth will be the recommendation.

All women who have had a previous caesarean section need to be seen by a member of the team before a finalised plan for birth can be made, unless agreed by your consultant obstetrician.
